On the Comp Lab

The iconoclastic boy is thankful for working happily in the comp lab around some really cooperative people. There were times when he failed to xercise reasonable care in performing his duty, and other times when he was unaware of breaches in his own duty, but fortunately all the other supervisors were so accommodating. Today's mini-celebration outside the lab was truly enjoyable. Best wishes for the new year! This boy hopes that he and those around him will b happy for the year ahead, b it getting good grades, building muscles or just getting 'something' they wanted...

On Soccer Fans

The iconoclastic boy is doubting whether a true soccer fan really exists. Since 1997, he has been a so-called supporter of the 'Old Lady' Juventus. Y did he like Juventus then, he could not determine. But today he tried to make a list of 'things' he liked about the club.
  1. The black-and-white colours
  2. The logo
  3. The success
  4. The coach Fabio Capello
  5. Transfer guru Moggi
  6. Skipper Alessandro Del Piero
  7. The 1st team (esp. Nedved, Buffon, Zambrotta & Cannavaro)
Will he still support the club if 1, 2, 4 and 5 have changed? Probably yes. What if 3 is not there for many seasons? Probably still yes. What if 6 or 7 has changed? Probably no. So it became clear that this boy supported the skipper and the team, but not the club. So what did it mean for him to support the club? He has only shown 'real' support by buying a single 2003/2004 jersey for ~$80 with the name of one of his favorite players 'Nedved' (xtra ~$20) printed behind. Now, he has concluded that most fans aren't fans of the soccer clubs. Rather, they r fans of success. Y is it that Chelsea has suddenly more 'fans' (more people in the streets wearing the blue jersey) and that nobody has ever professed his/her support for any Div 1 clubs?

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
